چکیده

In the past decade, computational intelligence (CI) techniques have been widely adopted in various fields such as business, science and engineering, as well as information technology. Specifically, hybrid techniques using artificial neural networks (ANNs) and genetic algorithms (GAs) are becoming an important alternative for solving problems in the field of engineering in comparison to traditional solutions, which ordinarily use complicated mathematical theories. The wave-induced seabed liquefaction problem is one of the most critical issues for analysing and designing marine structures such as caissons, oil platforms and harbours. In the past, various investigations into wave-induced seabed liquefaction have been carried out including numerical models, analytical solutions and some laboratory experiments. However, most previous numerical studies are based on solving complicated partial differential equations. In this study, the proposed neural-genetic model is applied to wave-induced liquefaction, which provides a better prediction of liquefaction potential. The neural-genetic simulation results illustrate the applicability of the hybrid technique for the accurate prediction of wave-induced liquefac-tion depth, which can also provide coastal engineers with alternative tools to analyse the stability of marine sediments.

Accurate Prediction of Wave-induced Seabed Liquefaction at Shallow depths using Multi-Artificial Neural Networks

In past decades, considerable effort has been devoted to the phenomenon of wave-induced liquefaction, because it is one of the most important factors for analysing the seabed and designing marine structures. As waves propagate and fluctuate over the ocean surface, energy is carried within the medium of the water particles. This energy could be transmitted into the seabed, which results in the r...

Effects of Wave Non-Linearity on Residual Pore Pressures in Marine Sediments

A better understanding of the wave-induced pore pressure accumulations (i.e., residual pore pressure) is a key factor in the analysis of the wave-induced liquefaction in marine sediments. In this paper, the residual mechanism of nonlinear wave-induced pore water pressure accumulation in marine sediments is examined. Unlike previous investigations, the second-order Stokes wave theory is consider...

Coastal Dynamics during Earthquakes

The results of research on some aspects of coastal dynamics during earthquakes, carried out in the Institute of Hydro-Engineering, are summarized. The attention is focused on the liquefaction-related phenomena, like modeling the earthquake-induced generation of pore-pressures and subsequent liquefaction of subsoil, the behavior of liquefied soil, underwater landslides, sinking of structures in ...

3-D Poro-Elastoplastic Model for Short-Crested Wave-Induced Pore Pressures in a Porous Seabed

In this paper, a three-dimensional poro-elastoplastic model for the short-crested wave-induced pore pressures in a porous seabed is presented. Unlike the previous models, both elasticity and plasticity of seafloor are considered in the present model. This study considers the effects of wave and soil characteristics on the pore pressures and was validated with the previous wave experiment data. ...

Application of Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Inference System in Prediction of Breaking Wave Characteristics

Wave height as well as water depth at the breaking point are two basic parameters which are necessary for studying coastal processes. In this study, the application of soft computing-based methods such as artificial neural network (ANN), fuzzy inference system (FIS), adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and semi-empirical models for prediction of these parameters are investigated. Th...
